Excelta's new TM-200 IntelliTweeze is a handheld LCR Meter, and an exciting answer to the old problem of testing/troubleshooting SMD components. With the use of only one hand, this lightweight unit provides a perfect solution for testing & identification of Surface Mount Devices (SMD) as well as for troubleshooting of complex electronic systems. TM-200 IntelliTweeze is designed for component evaluation, on board impedance testing and SMD component sorting. Its unique mechanical and electronic design combines a pair of durable gold-plated tweezers and a digital RCL meter in compact, lightweight, battery powered instrument.

Excelta's TM-200 IntelliTweeze greatly simplifies the
testing and troubleshooting process

Surface mount components are usually tiny and without wire leads, making it more difficult to test and identify SMD's than conventional components.

Excelta's TM-200 IntelliTweeze gives users an easy way to sort and evaluate loose components and to perform on-board measurements and debugging.

Precise, field replaceable gold-plated tips made of non-magnetic steel are able to pick and reliably contact even smallest SMD components (as small as 0201 format) or take measurements from the devices already mounted on a board. The probe can also be used to test conventional components with wire leads too short to insert into the test terminals.

Automatic Component Recognition

TM-200 IntelliTweeze automatically determines the type of component (resistance, capacitance or  inductance), and selects the proper range/signal frequency for highest accuracy measurements. Manual overrides are available as well.

The TM200 display clearly indicates the type of the component, measurement result and test conditions. The primary display shows the present reading. The secondary display (on top) shows the present reading of additional parameters or measurement conditions when the primary display shows some other feature (L, C).

When multiple features are present, TM200's secondary display shows one of the values. The Bar Graph provides an analog indication of the measured input.

Voltage Measurement and Continuity/Open Test

Excelta's TM-200 IntelliTweeze features dual mode voltmeter function. In the AUTO mode, the DC voltage is measured. In the TRACE mode waveform of the AC signal is shown. TM200 also has a continuity detector with the beeper sound for resistance reading below threshold.

The TM-200 IntelliTweeze is part of Excelta's TweezerMeter family of products, replacing the older ST-1 Smart Tweezer.  Some of the many improvements and updated features include:

  • Replaceable gold-plated steel tips (Excelta p/n TM-200X)
  • Diode PolarityShows polarity
  • Tip Cap Protector/Pocket Clip – Tips go in at an angle, screws snap into place
  • HOLD Feature – Holds the last reading in display, even after you have released the component
  • Auto-OffShuts off in any menu/mode except voltage, & when powered up will continue where it left off
  • Auto-ExitOnly necessary to hit ‘EXIT’ once when using the menus instead of exiting out of every sub menu
  • You can now set the secondary parameters
