ESD-Safe Conformal Coating Removal Work Cell

Crystal Mark's new CCR-CWC-MV2L Conformal Coating Removal Work Cell, incorporates the MV-2L Micro Abrasive Blaster, Ionized Ergonomic Work Chamber, Point Ionizer at Nozzle and Dust Collector. The unit features all-in-one design, and is mounted on casters for easy installation, mobility and Work Cell re-configuration. It is specifically designed to selectively remove conformal coatings, whether from a pinpoint area to an entire circuit card assembly.

Exceptional ESD safety is built into the unit. When conformal coated components are sensitive to Electro-Static Discharge (ESD), the Point Ionizer effectively reduces ESD from reaching levels that could potentially cause damage to the component during the removal process. The Point Ionizer combines handpiece, abrasive nozzle and ionization source into one, providing a balanced flow of positive and negative ions at the exit point of the nozzle tip. A roomy Ionized Ergonomic Work Chamber with Ionizing Bars and anti-static Iris Ports provides additional ESD protection, and also includes Dual Fluorescent Lamps, grounded Metal Interior Work Surface, Tempered Glass Viewing Window and Angled Arm Holes. For optimal ESD-safety, Carbo Blast™ abrasive powder (see below) is highly recommended.

Crystal Mark is pleased to introduce the new Turbo-Max CCR Table Top Conformal Coating Removal System. Like the CCR-CWC-MV2L Work Cell, the Turbo-Max CCR incorporates Crystal Mark's MV-2L Micro Abrasive Blaster, Ionized Ergonomic Work Chamber, Point Ionizer at Nozzle,  along with a compact Filter System. The all-in-one workstation fits on most benches and is designed to safely and selectively remove conformal coatings, whether from a pinpoint area to an entire circuit card assembly. When used with Carbo Blast™ abrasive powder, conformal coatings can be removed without causing mechanical or ESD damage.

Automated  Conformal Coating Removal Nozzle Positioning System

First Computer-Controlled System for Full Board Conformal Coating Removal!

Crystal Mark is pleased to introduce the CCR-NP16X16 Automated Conformal Coating Removal System. Originally developed for Tobyhanna Army Depot and fielded in late 2009, the CCR-NP16X16 is the first automated micro-abrasive blast system designed specifically for removing/stripping conformal coatings from an entire printed circuit board surface, up to 16” x 16”. It will also handle spot area removals when used with the Point Ionizer Handpiece for manual touch-up.

Touch Screen provides for simple operation & programming
 

The system is computer controlled with a programmable touch screen user interface. The user simply enters the area to be blasted (up to 16”x16”), number of passes and from which side to make the passes. The nozzle is mounted at 60 degrees in relation to the board. The board is placed on a rotary table rotating in 90 degree increments to insure full board coverage. The system can be used in either “Sandblast Automatic” mode or “Sandblast Manual” mode for doing touch up manually.

Environmentally Friendly Carbo Blast™  Abrasive Powder for ESD-Sensitive PCB's

There are several types of abrasive powder media available for conformal coating removal including environmentally friendly Carbo Blast™, recommended for ESD-sensitive pc boards & components. Carbo Blast™ is also the least aggressive abrasive media and successfully removes all conformal coatings including Parylenes, Silicones, Urethanes, Epoxies, Acrylics and their blends. Excellent for circuit card assemblies, it does not cause mechanical damage to the butter coat of the board. While Carbo Blast excels for printed circuit board repair tasks, Crystal Mark Inc offers a wide variety of powders including aluminum oxide, glass beads, crushed glass, dolomite, silicon carbide and soda bicarbonate for different applications.
